I am writing to endorse the Residents First candidates for Marco Island City Council: Teri Sommerfeld, Rick Woodworth, and Dennis Bartolucci.

As a retired assistant fire chief and active community volunteer, I understand that effective leadership requires preparation, sound judgment, and a genuine commitment to service. Teri, Rick, and Dennis are intelligent, highly accomplished individuals who have demonstrated tremendous devotion to Marco. They are stepping forward because they care deeply about this community and want to protect it for everyone who calls it home.

Together, they have the knowledge, experience, and determination to bring greater discipline, transparency, and accountability to the City’s budget, protect taxpayer dollars, and ensure that Marco plans wisely for the future.

As someone involved with Marco Island Senior Softball, I have seen firsthand the need to properly maintain our recreational facilities. The recurring problems at the Winterberry softball fields must be fixed correctly, not temporarily patched only to fail again. I believe Teri, Rick, and Dennis will make sure this gets done while also addressing the roads, bridges, stormwater systems, and other infrastructure our community depends upon.

They will protect peaceful neighborhoods, support public safety, preserve our small-town character, prevent overdevelopment and overtourism, clean up our waterways, and safeguard our marine life and wildlife.

Teri, Rick, and Dennis are our greatest hope for a brighter future in which the people who live here and whose tax dollars fund our City are treated as its first priority.
